Zulu Lidded Vessels - Zulu Kingdom/Colony of Natal

This matched set of vessels is unusual in that they are seldom found in pairs. Their overall forms are embellished with a grooved and interlaced pattern and their rotund bodies each stand on three chunky legs. The lids echo the bodies' round shapes and surface details, as well as their three carved feet. The footed design of the lids makes it possible for them to be used as drinking containers.
